Jetstar brawl: Flight to Phuket diverted to Bali after 'bloody' brawl between passengers
This is the moment six rowdy Australian passengers were kicked off a Thailand-bound Jetstar plane and taken into custody in Bali after a bloodied and violent brawl in the air.
Witnesses on the diverted flight said there was "blood everywhere" and "kids were screaming" as a group of six drunk passengers traded heavy punches.
Bradley Beecham, Brett Eldridge, Michael Matthews, Mark Rossiter and Lynmin Waharai were arrested after being kicked off the plane at Denpasar Airport.
Megan Wilson posted on the Sunrise Facebook page saying she had three friends who saw the brawl on Flight JQ27 that was travelling from Sydney to Phuket on 20 July.
"I have three friends on that flight!!! I've been talking to one of them this morning," Ms Wilson posted.
"She said it was really scary. She was in tears and kids etc were screaming. Blood was everywhere."
Ms Wilson went on to confirm there was "a massive punch up".
Another passenger, Romy Papas from Sydney, wrote on Facebook that she was in the middle of the fight when it broke out.
"Love it when a fight breaks out over your seat #bitofbloodeverywhere. Thank you Jetstar for handing the situation really well considering how bad they were," she wrote.
7 News has obtained exclusive footage of the group drinking merrily drinking beer at a bar in Sydney airport before the brawl.
Just three hours into the flight, the group refused requests from the crew and the captain made the decision to land in Bali and kick the group off the plane.
A Jetstar spokesperson told Yahoo7 the captain then decided to divert the flight to Denpasar airport in Bali where Indonesian police took the passengers off the aircraft.
The other passengers on board supported this decision and also thanked the crew.
The flight then continued without incident to Phuket.
"We take safety and security seriously and we don’t tolerate disruptive behaviour by passengers on our flights," a spokesperson said. "The other customers onboard supported the decision to offload the group in Bali and thanked the crew."
