Police draw guns to arrest suspect behind wild car chase

Police have drawn their guns while arresting a wanted man following a car chase near Bathurst on Monday afternoon.

The 24-year-old man evaded police on the Great Western Highway at Kelso after he refused to pull over and sped off.

Officers started chasing the yellow Holden Commodore, but had to stop when the pursuit became too dangerous.

After issuing a warrant for his arrest, police surrounded a unit in Queen Street, Oberon where they entered with their guns drawn just after 3pm.

The man was handcuffed and placed into a police vehicle. Several other occupants of the unit were also detained.

Police searched a bag belonging to the suspect and seized a rifle bolt and ammunition.

The man is now in custody at Bathurst police station where he is being questioned.
