Suspect behind the wheel of learner-driver car mows man down in London street

A man behind the wheel of a driving instructor's car was filmed allegedly mowing another man over in a south London street in a shocking act of road rage.

The incident filmed in Woolwich on Thursday started when the driver of the instructor car got into an argument with another driver after stopping for a McDonald's meal, The Mirror reports.

One witness told the Evening Standard the incident began with a verbal exchange before the man in the instructor car, 33-year-old Kadir Simsek, allegedly got out and threw a few punches at the other man in who was sitting in his car.

Mr Simsek then hopped in his car and readied to make way when the other driver approached the vehicle.

The car started to take off with the man standing in its path.

The car then knocked the man onto the kerb as it came up over the top of him and zipped away down Church Street.

Witness Alan Cooke began filming the incident when the argument started, telling the Evening Standard he "was so shocked" and had "never seen anything like it".

"He was in so much pain, he kept clutching his leg and his head. It was awful," he said.

The man suffered a broken leg while Mr Simsek was charged with grievous bodily harm and dangerous driving.
