Missing man Rye Hunt confirmed dead
Australian foreign minister Julie Bishop has confirmed a body found in Brazil is that of missing Tasmanian man Rye Hunt.
Ms Bishop said authorities in Brazil had confirmed the body found was Mr Hunt and his family had now been notified.
Mr Hunt has been missing since May 21 when he separated from his travelling companion.
Mr Hunt, 25, was last seen at the Rio de Janeiro airport when he and his companion parted ways after an argument.
Ms Bishop said the Australian government would work with the family to provide whatever support was possible.
"We will continue to work with the Brazilian authorities to determine how this death came about," she told reporters in Melbourne on Saturday.
