Man wounded by glass bottle speaks to young attacker

A motorbike rider who was the victim of a shocking ambush, including being struck in the head with a bottle, while in Perth last December has reportedly had a video meeting with his young attacker.

Lawson Mills was on his way home to Guildford after work at about 11.30pm and was riding east on Wellington Street when the terrifying incident occurred in front of the Perth train station.

He was struck in the throat by a rope which had been tied across the street and after he approached a group of youths in the area he was hit in the head by a glass bottle.

At the time police said he had removed his helmet when he had stopped.

He reportedly had to have five staples put into his head following the attack.

Mr Mills reportedly said the child admitted he was 'sorry' and even wrote an apology letter as well, actions which Mr Mills said he appreciated.

“I thought it took courage," Mr Mills reportedly told The Sunday Times.

"I felt amazing afterwards ... it felt really nice to put it all behind me."

Mr Mills also told the publication he believed young offenders deserved the opportunity to learn from their actions when they did the wrong thing.
