Personal belongings found in search for missing Australian man who vanished in Brazil

Police have uncovered a number of personal effects in the search for missing Australian traveller Rye Hunt in Brazil, including his laptop, large blue and black backpack and his camera.

His family, who are becoming "increasingly concerned about the welfare and safety" of the 25-year-old, said they are yet to receive an update as to where the belongings were found but have requested more information from DFAT.

They said they were particularly curious to know if the 25-year-old's iPhone, wallet and passport were among the items that have been located.

"We love him; we miss him; we just want him home." the latest statement read.

The last known image of Rye before he got into a taxi at Galeao International Airport on May 21 after a 'verbal altercation' with his friend and travel companion Mitch Sheppard.

The last haunting picture of Mr Hunt before he mysteriously disappeared has also been released.

His family have today said that the 25-year-old was wearing a black cap, a green Boston Celtics basketball jersey and denim shorts when he was pictured walking alone through Galeao International Airport about about 2.30pm on May 21.

Mr Hunt left the Airport in a taxi, after arranging to meet his travelling companion 30 minutes later, his family said in a statement on Sunday.

His family have said his uncle and girlfriend are preparing to fly to Brazil to help with the search.

Rye and his travel buddy had a row in the hours before he disappeared.

Mr Hunt and his travel companion Mitch Sheppard, who he had spent seven weeks with through Southeast Asia and South America, were captured on CCTV before they split up.

The friends had travelled through Asia and south America together.

The pair reportedly had a 'verbal altercation' before Mr Hunt went to get a taxi.

Mr Hunt reportedly agreed to meet back up with his travel buddy, but instead got into the cab and went to an unknown location.

Mr Hunt's sister Romany Brodribb told AAP on Friday: "The international airport there - is, I believe - full of cameras, both inside and out,"

"And we have been really, really keen to see that footage."

Police have the exact details of where Mr Hunt and his friend were last together in the airport, and a description of what the 25-year-old was wearing.

Ms Brodribb, from Hobart, said the family was trying to stay positive and focus on the search.

Rye and his girlfriend.

"We're obviously terrified and worried about his safety and well being," she said.

"We're curious, we want to know more details, we're frustrated that we can't get details as fast as we want them."

Almost $38,000 has been raised through a crowd-funding campaign to send Mr Hunt's uncle and his girlfriend to Rio to coordinate the search.

The brother of his travel companion will also go to offer support.

Tasmanian and West Australian police have been working with DFAT and Brazilian authorities to find Mr Hunt, who has not used his social media, email and bank accounts, and doesn't appear to have used his phone.
