Man charged over 'terror plot' in Sydney's west

UPDATE: A married man with a pregnant wife has been charged after being arrested in Sydney's west over an alleged terror plot.

Farhad Said, 24, was arrested outside his home this morning by joint counter terrorism officers from the AFP and NSW Police as part of Operation Appleby.

It's believed the arrest is in relation to a 2014 terror plot against Garden Island navy base.

He has been charged with one count of conspiracy to conduct an act in preparation for a terrorist act.

Police will allege the man was one of a number of people involved in formulating documents connected with preparations to facilitate, assist or engage a person to undertake a terrorist act.

He was held at Sydney Police Centre and was due to appear before Central Local Court via video link, but his lawyer asked that he not show his face.
