Dead cat dug up from late property tycoon's gravesite after gruesome package sent to son
Police are investigating whether a family feud is behind a sickening attack on the gravesite of a late property tycoon.
The shock discovery was made beneath the ground, just hours after a sinister package was delivered to Con Polites' son.
A cemetery worker was tasked to dig at Mr Polites’ gravesite as police watched on, knowing what they were about to find.
Eventually a pet carrier containing a dead cat, wrapped in a towel was dug up.
7 News understands the cat was deliberately buried in the 15-year-old plot, as a message to Mr Polites’ family.
Mr Polites son George was also sent a bowl adorned with a red ribbon, which allegedly contained a fresh animal liver.
It was dropped off to his beachside home about 3.55am on Tuesday.
The package also contained a birthday candle and a handwritten note.
Mr Polites’ home has top-level surveillance and cameras captured the delivery.
The video is being examined by police.
7 News understands the bizarre and gruesome acts may be part of a long running dispute involving a relative.
Police are also investigating the acid bombing of two cars.
Court records show the Polites’ Group took out an intervention order against a family member in September 2015.
Five years ago the home was peppered with bullets in an attack, which at the time George described it a case of mistaken identity.
