'Oh my god': Shocked waitress caught naked on live TV show

A woman says she wasn't happy when she saw nude footage of herself on TV3's current affairs program Story, but not for the reason you might expect.

Viewers copped an eyeful when a naked waitress called Diamond walked in front of a camera during a live broadcast for a segment about nude dining on Wednesday evening.

The camera caught a close-up of Diamond's crotch which was not obscured or blurred.

The topless waitress and dancer, who was hired by The Edge to be a naked waitress for the night, told Fairfax she "wasn't too impressed" with the vision.

"My first reaction when I saw it was, oh my god, you can tell I'm wearing hair extensions! So I wasn't too impressed about that [laughs]."

Diamond says she didn't have an issue with appearing totally nude, but admits she was surprised it was aired on live television.

She says she doesn't think the show's producers were "expecting to get that much of me".

"I think they were more shocked than I was. I was more like, okay so it's a vagina, so what? But I think they were kind of like, oh, a vagina, oh crap."

Diamond told Fairfax she was not given specific instructions about when to walk into shot.

"I was just serving people there because it was a nude dining experience, and I was the nude waitress. We were just serving food and they said okay we're running live and I was like okay, that's fine."

She says viewers had been given plenty of warning about the nature of the segment.

But it prompted an apology from co-host Duncan Garner later in the program.

While several viewers complained on Story's Facebook page following the blunder, the Broadcasting Standards Authority is yet to receive any formal or informal complaints.

"Thanks story, my kids just seen things they didn't wish to see...and I didn't wish to explain just yet... bravo!" Lititia Buckman wrote on Wednesday evening.

"You should be ashamed of yourselves showing a womans vagina at this time of night. Your cameraman and presenters should know better. Disgusting journalism," Chris Matthews wrote.

Although the authority has not heard from the general public yet, its spokesperson said it was unlikely to receive any correspondence until after the complainant took their concerns to MediaWorks directly.

If they were unhappy with MediaWorks' reply, they can then contact the authority.

MediaWorks has been approached for comment.
