Woman dragged along road in brazen daylight bag snatch attempt

Police are hunting for a man wanted over a brazen daylight handbag snatch caught on camera on a suburban Perth street.

The incident occurred in East Cannington on Tuesday, April 26, when a woman noticed a man walking towards her.

The 34-year-old woman was walking along Station Street at about 9.30am when a man walked past her, doubled back and ran towards her.

Video shows the man violently grabbing at her handbag, pulling the woman backwards with so much force he drags her into the road.

The assailant fled on foot down Henry Street with her mobile phone.

The victim was not seriously injured.

The man is described as being 20 to 30 years of age, approximately 185cm tall, with a large build, dark complexion, short black hair and brown eyes.

He was wearing a red T-shirt with a large white motif on the front, black shorts and no shoes.

The victim was wearing a green and white jacket with blue denim jeans. She was carrying a small black handbag and a white mobile phone.

Police would like to speak to anyone who may have seen the incident or who can identify the man pictured.
