Cheeky caller: Man calls in sick to store where he doesn't even work

Have you ever called in sick to work when you weren't even unwell?

One YouTube user has recorded his attempt at asking for a sick day, but there was a catch - CanadianChestHair called a store where he doesn't even work.

While the hoax gave him a few laughs, his excuse was certainly not run-of-the-mill and surely wouldn't go unnoticed by any manager.

"This is Jordan calling. I just started there last week and um it's like really nice and stuff and some of the boys are going out fishing tomorrow so I'm not going to be able to make it in for my shift. I was just wondering if I could take like a sick day or something?"

The woman on the other end of the phone, who is named Sylvia, expresses her shock at the query: "I'm going to tell you right now it's going to be an unapproved absence. Um, you're too new I believe for a sick day."

But the prankster presses on.

"I'm not actually sick. I just need a day off to go fishing 'cause it's so nice."

He continues: "I don't want to give up the job 'cause it's good bread for me, right."

Her response to the man she believes only started work at the company a week earlier: "It's not a good legitimate reason to miss your shift from work so it's going to be unapproved and just so that you're aware as far as our policy goes that, that's probably a discipline."

The bold caller continues to ask the woman questions.

"What would be a good excuse? Like, could you just write something down for me?" he said.

That's when Sylvia tells him she's an assistant manager, before asking where he works in the store.

He says he works in electronics, and she says that means she is the manager in charge of him.

'Jordan' doesn't let up though, again asking: "So I can't go fishing?"

Sylvia tells him it's not a good first impression.

At the end of the call Sylvia defiantly tells him he needs to be there for his shift, before hanging up the phone.

Sylvia will surely be looking out for the employee who had the audacity to ask for the day off to go fishing.

But 'Jordan' left the conversation without even telling her he doesn't work there.

The video was uploaded five days ago and has been viewed more than 1.4 million times.
