'Everyone's saying train, train!': Victim speaks after attacker left him for dead on train tracks
The victim of a shocking train station attack has spoken after an attacker shoved him off a Melbourne platform and onto the tracks just minutes before a train was due to arrive,
Chris Wood was at Yarraman station in Noble Park on April 8, when three men picked a fight, but Mr Wood said he wasn't interested.
As he walked away, one of the men lashed out, punching Mr Wood in the head from behind then slamming him onto the tracks.
With a train less than two minutes away, a passenger ran from the other platform and dragged Mr Wood to safety.
The impact caused the victim's knee to shatter, and he awaits a major operation Thursday to put bolts and plates in his leg,
Mr Wood told 7 News he feared he was about to be run over.
"I got hit from behind and I didn't know what was going on. It all happened pretty quick," he said."I got off the train line as quick as I could. And then I went to stand up and me legs just wouldn't get up.
"Everyone could hear the train coming and everyone's saying train! train!"
Mr Wood hoped to find the Good Samaritan who dragged him to safety, but left before he could thank him.
"I'd love to find out who he is and shake his hand. That'd be good," he told 7 News.
His mother Mary Townsend said hearing the news of the incident was "a mother's worst nightmare", but was grateful for the mystery man who potentially saved her son's life.
"I wish i could find him, I hope he comes forward," she said.
"I want to see this guy, he saved my sons life basically.
"I think that if wasn't for him I don't think Chris would've been able to get up on that platform.
"Makes me really sad cause I know it could've been a lot worse. A mothers worst nightmare."
An 18-year-old Cranbourne West man surrendered to police on Wednesday and has been charged with conduct endangering life.
