Knife-wielding robber brutally stabs Sydney store attendant in confronting CCTV

Police are re-newing an appeal for public help to find a knife-wielding robber who jumped a convenience store counter stabbed a store attendant in a brutal attack caught on CCTV.

Two separate robberies in central Sydney - including one where a man was stabbed - have been linked by police, prompting the re-release of the footage on Wednesday,.

Detectives are appealing for the public’s assistance in identifying a man who may have information regarding two robberies, one in Chippendale in December and another at an Ultimo store last month.

In the footage, the armed attacker slides across a Chippendale convenience store counter located on Buckland Street at about 9.45pm on Saturday 19 December 2015.

The knife-wielding man confronts the 35-year-old attendant threatening him with a knife while demanding money.

During the attendant's struggle to survive, he attempts to fight off the robber but was stabbed in the shoulder.

Emergency services arrived at the scene and the injured man was rushed to the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

Detectives from Redfern Local Area Command believe the incident may be linked to the armed robbery of a convenience store at Ultimo last month.

This incident took place at a store on Bulwara Road just before 11.30am on 27 March 2016.

Here, the robber is captured threatening a 29-year-old female attendant with a knife.

The armed robber steals cash and cigarettes before fleeing.

The woman wasn’t injured.

Police have released the footage of a man who was in the vicinity of the Chippendale store during the robbery and believe he will be able to assist with inquiries in conjunction with both robberies.

The man in the footage is described as being of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander appearance and aged in his 20s.

Police believe the attacker is approximately 160cm to 170cm tall and with a large build and has short dark hair and a beard.

Police are appealing for anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 immediately.
