'He had to pay': CCTV shows brutal bashing of inmate after he was heard 'bragging' about murdering grandmother
Footage has surfaced of a brutal bashing at Goulburn Supermax prison that left convicted murderer Tony Halloun with injuries so severe, he was forced to undergo reconstructive surgery.
Halloun, who murdered a Sydney grandmother in 2012, was left bleeding on the ground after being locked in a holding cell with former bikie member and alleged hitman Rodney Atkinson.
Atkinson told News Corp he heard Halloun ‘bragging’ about killing the defenceless woman and couldn’t contain himself.
“The scumbag that killed that woman was in there. They either made a mistake putting him in with me or they wanted him got,” he said.

“I just heard him bragging about his crime and I couldn't let it go. He had to pay.”
The grainy images show Atkinson, a wannabe UFC fighter, knocking Halloun to the ground with a volley of punches before kicking and stomping on his head.
Prison guards were notified and soon approach the cell to separate the two.
Halloun was taken to hospital were he underwent surgery, and Atkinson was later charged with assault.
The bashing happened in September 2012, two years before Halloun was found guilty of murdering Shahnaz Qidwai, a 65-year-old grandmother from Sydney’s North Shore.
Halloun had attempted to rob the Henley home she shared with her husband when she caught him in the act, prompting him to bludgeon her to death.
Atkinson, who has connections to the Brothers 4 Life and Notorious motorcycle gangs, told reporters he is keen to start a new life away from crime.
“I’m done with all that crap now,” he told News Corp.
