Sydney man brutally bashed walking home from party because he was 'wearing dress and makeup'

A young man was repeatedly punched in the face in a horrifying attack in Sydney’s inner-west on Saturday night by a group of men who didn't like what he was wearing.

Isaac Keatinge said he was walking alone from a party in Redfern wearing make up and a "gorgeous gown" before he was confronted by straight men who didn't like what he had on, SameSame reports.

“After cruel words, things escalated physically. I was pushed and punched rather severely," Mr Keatinge said.

"At some point I stumbled back towards the party and some people outside saw me when I rounded the corner."

People from the party rushed to Mr Keatinge's aide to find his forehead was split open to his skull.

He described the doctors and nurses as being "amazing" and said he almost needed plastic and reconstructive surgery for nerve damage.

On Sunday, he posted a photo of what the thugs did to him on Facebook as a warning and he has since received an outpour of love and support from friends who are wishing him a speedy recovery.

“I feel solidarity more then (sic) ever with our sisters around the globe who have been much more severely injured, bashed, tortured and killed, due to their gender expression or sexuality," he said.

"Our people have been prosecuted for the longest time.”

Mr Keatinge said he made a statement with the police the following day and stated that the situation would not have occurred if he wasn't wearing a dress.

“Please stay safe, even around Newtown,” Mr Keatinge said.

“While I don’t ever want people to feel like they can’t express themselves, do stay with others. Safety in numbers.”

The brave man is believed to be recovering well and is only suffering from some bruising around his eye area.
