Police officer takes time out for hopscotch with homeless girl

Well over a million people have had their hearts thoroughly warmed by a US police officer taking time out to play hopscotch with a young homeless girl.

Video of the game was posted to Facebook by the Huntington Beach Police Department.

The officer had been called to investigate a suspicious vehicle in the Graham and Edinger area of Huntington Beach in California but, upon arrival, discover a mother and her 11-year-old daughter were living out of the car.

After contacting the police departments Homeless Task Force to try to arrange housing, the little girl needed to be entertained while her mother and an officer worked out the details.

What better opportunity for Officer Price to demonstrate his hopscotch skills.

The police department posted its video to Facebook two days ago and it has since been viewed by more than one million people, attracting thousands of comments and being shared widely around the internet.
