School mum severely burned lighting barbecue in gas bottle explosion
A parent has been seriously injured after a community cross-country barbecue went horribly wrong at a New South Wales Central Coast school.
A woman was lighting the barbecue for a community gathering at Holgate Public School when a gas bottle exploded, leaving her with serious flash burns.
The incident occurred around mid-morning, a spokesperson for the school said.
The school immediately administered first aid and the woman was taken away in a stretcher to be airlifted to hospital.
No students or staff were nearby, and the school has advised parents that no students or staff were involved, the spokesperson said.
