Shocking racist attack on Victorian schoolgirls

Three Victorian schoolgirls have been bashed and abused by a gang of young thugs in a shocking race hate attack.

The children, one as young as ten, are now too frightened to go outside after being punched and kicked while they played in a Geelong park.

The girls' families fled war-torn Afghanistan in search of a peaceful life, but sadly they haven't found it.

They were playing happily in the Norlane park when they were viciously attacked by a gang of ten youths who abused 12-year-old Walija, her 15-year-old friend Nadia and ten-year-old Aima.

The gang repeatedly punched and kicked the friends, bruising Walija's foot before pelting the girls with rocks.

"One of the little girls, she was like seven years old, she was filling her socks with rocks and hitting us," Walija told 7 News.

"They were saying 'go back to your country', 'I'm going to f*** your mum', rude words like that."

The final insult came when the gang tore off Nadia and Aima's religious head scarves. Aima's neck was grazed during the attack.

"I couldn't even control myself because I was really upset," Nadia said.

As the trio tried to flee and call police for help, Aima's mobile phone was ripped from her hand and smashed to pieces.

Finally, a parent turned up. But the parent was related to the offenders and egged the gang on.

"They hit us and their mum was like saying rude words to us, and 'go back to your country, go back to your country," Aima told 7 News.

Police say it is a sickening attack and it's extremely alarming given the girls' ages.

The girls say unless their mothers are with them they are now too frightened to play at their favourite park.

They hope police will catch those responsible for the racist attack.
