Brutal bashing in broad daylight after man 'punched woman to the ground'

Seven News has obtained shocking pictures of a brutal bashing in broad daylight at an Adelaide train station.

Stunned witnesses watched on in horror as three men punched, kicked and stomped on the victim in an apparent revenge attack on Sunday afternoon at the Ovingham train station.

Witness Christian Annette said the incident was sparked following an altercation between the victim and a woman just moments earlier.

"He punched her a few times and she went down onto the ground," Mr Annette told 7 News.

Frighteningly, the man's attention soon turned to Mr Annette and his camera.

"When the bloke started coming towards me he had a look like he wanted to kill me in his eyes and I was scared for my life," he said.

Mr Annette said he crossed the road but continued filming as three more men appeared on the scene.

In an apparent act of swift revenge, the trio set on the man with a frenzy of flying fists.

"They had him on the ground and were kicking and stomping on his head," Mr Annette said.

"It was really bad, it really was.

"Once they could hear the sirens and police from a distance they all took off and the guy was still lying on the ground."

The alleged attackers, who remain on the run, escaped the scene.

But the victim's blood still stains the concrete.

The victim eventually got to his feet and also managed to take off before police arrived.

Mr Annette said officers took too long to respond, adding that it took over 10 minutes for two patrol cars to arrive.

Police said they were yet to identify any of the people involved.
