Drone footage allegedly captured near restricted Area 51 in Nevada desert

An alien hunter has allegedly posted drone footage of the notoriously secret and secluded Area 51 captured by a drone flown high above the Nevada desert.

Extra-terrestrial enthusiast Hans Faulkner posted the footage captured "near Tikaboo Peak" on the outskirts of the secret military base about 180km north of Las Vegas.

While the US government only technically acknowledged the base existed in 2013, Faulkner's video does not necessarily shine a light on what is going on there.

"Area 51 Drone Footage 'Near' Tikaboo Peak," the alien hunter wrote on YouTube.

Indeed there is something odd – a large dust cloud in the far-off distance that could possibly be an "unidentified flying object" in the most literal sense of the term.

While many assert the US Air Force base has been a testing ground for alien technologies, the US government released details about the technology tested there in 2005 through a Freedom of Information request.

Aircraft such as the U-2 spy plane, the F-117 stealth fighter and the supersonic A-12 "Blackbird" were all born of the base, tested and flown in the area that boasts one of the most restricted air spaces in the world.

Perhaps the "something odd" Faulkner refers to is a prototype engine firing up to produce a large dust cloud in its wake.

In June last year NASA Administrator Major Charles Bolden told British school children in a Q and A, "There is an Area 51."

"It's not what many people think. I’ve been to a place called that but it’s a normal research and development place. I never saw any aliens or alien spacecraft or anything when I was there.

"It think because of the secrecy of the aeronautics research that goes on there it’s ripe for people to talk about aliens being there."

There are dozens more videos on Faulkner's YouTube channel, including "real" footage of an alien grey and various instances of "paranormal activity".

Yet there are plenty of other UFO mysteries being captured on camera all the time.
