‘It’s circling us’: Terrified kid's hilarious reaction to great white shark sighting in open water

A relaxing family day out quickly descended into an anxious waiting game of “shark” and no-go into the water.

While boating on Lake Macquarie in Australia, a family was unexpectedly visited by a looming great white shark that appears to slowly circle their boat repeatedly.

The massive shark is estimated to be around 2.5 meters long and had the family members in various stages of distress.

The family can be heard in the nail-biting footage commenting as the shark goes in and out of the water.

One young son can be heard in the footage demanding his father put the boat into immediate reverse stating “Fricking hell Dad, reverse! I just don’t want it to attack us. It’s circling us.”

The other younger son can he heard yelling: “Nooooo!”

“Can you two calm down. It’s not going to jump into the boat,” their father says in quick reply to the clearly extremely nervous children.

The “stalking” shark then quickly disappears into the water before reappearing at the surface of the water once again.

The adults on the boat, however, find the whole incident amusing.

The children's mother exclaiming with a giggle: “God, it’s just hovering there. It’s just sitting there!”

They are both clearly amazed at the size of the shark.

The mood on the boat quickly changes however when the father announces: “I’m going to go splash the water.”

The father then appears to lean over the boat into the water for a closer inspection of the apex predator, which immediately elicits an extremely strong reaction from his family.

“Brad! Don’t! Go away, let’s go now. Brad, don’t!” the mother can be heard screaming to the curious male.

One of the boys can also be heard screaming: “Dad! You’re gonna make me cry, you’re gonna make me cry!”

The smaller child can be heard then breaking down in tears following the adult’s seemingly foolish prank.

The father then exclaims: “Ah look, can you two stop it! Will you two calm down.”

The family believe the shark to have “some sort of injury”.

The massive shark then circles the boat once more before swimming off.
