Woman filmed 'trying to leave scene' of serious Sunshine Coast crash
FIRST ON 7: A tow truck driver has recorded an extraordinary confrontation with a young woman trying to leave the scene of a serious accident on the Sunshine Coast.
Police say the learner driver had been drinking before the crash.
The incident happened in Bli Bli where a small Holden hit a bus head on then scraped along the side before running off the road.
The impact tore off the passenger door, exposing bottles of pre-mixed Vodka and Orange.
Bystanders offered the driver assistance but she was determined to leave the scene and she challenged them.
Time and again the strangers try to stop the 28-year-old who says 'See ya later, laters' while being filmed.
"It had to be done, she was going to walk out on the road an cause another accident or kill someone else," said Mike Clayton, from Clayton's Towing.
“I just wanted her to stop and to accept responsibility for what she'd done,” bystander Zed Smith added.
A firefighter was also filmed catching up with the group but even he was on the receiving end as the woman hit him across the arm.
Police were filmed arriving at the scene and they removed her bottle and smelt its contents.
The woman was arrested and police say she blew 0.186, nearly four times the legal limit.
She is now due to face court.
