Man filmed jumping from notorious Kiama Blowhole

Nail-biting footage of a man jumping off a cliff into the Kiama Blowhole has surfaced on social media, shocking viewers.

The video shows terrified onlookers screaming as the youth jumps from the rock cliff into the treacherous water below.

The caption posted with the footage reads: “Good day to jump into the blowhole at Kiama... whooooo hooooo”.

Local police said diving off the cliffs is dangerous behaviour and there is signage forbidding it.

Speaking out against the action, Kiama mayor Brian Petschler has condemned the footage.

"This kind of behaviour is extremely irresponsible. The signs warn people who choose to engage in dangerous recreational activities that they do so at their own risk," he stated.

"Unfortunately you can't stop stupidity," Cr Petschler said.

The vision has now been deleted from Facebook.

A 60-year-old man died in 2014 when he was swept off the rocks while fishing near the blowhole.
