Hey Dad! star Robert Hughes appeals against sexual assault conviction
Former Hey Dad! actor and convicted pedophile Robert Hughes has lodged an application to appeal to the High Court to challenge his conviction.
The 67-year-old was sentenced to 10 years prison with parole after six years after being found guilty of sexual and indecent assault on four girls during the 1980s and 1990s.
The actor lost an appeal that was lodged in December after it was overturned by Court of Criminal Appeal.
The new application to the High Court mentions his sentence should be adjusted based on the treatment from other inmates at Goulburn, as he claims he has had urine and faeces thrown at him.
He has since been relocated to Long Bay Jail.
His appeal will also challenge the Court of Appeal’s decision over ‘tendency’ evidence heard by the jury - which is evidence of a person's character or behaviour rather than tangible evidence.
The application will also suggest that Hughes had suffered a miscarriage of justice during the Crown prosecutor’s ‘inflammatory’ final address, the Daily Telegraph reported.
No date has been set for the court to consider his application.
