Teenage Grinch caught on CCTV stealing blow up Santa

A greedy Grinch robbed Port Macquarie of their Christmas cheer by ripping down and stealing a local business' Santa display.

Security footage reveals a young boy, wearing a hat, entering the Merryllyn Page Conveyancing property through a gate at about 10.30pm on Sunday.

The boy had ripped the inflatable Santa out of its mounting, carrying it away along William Street.

Meryllyn Page spoke with Yahoo7 saying she and her employee's arrived at work on Monday morning to discover Santa was gone.

"We are a bit upset, Santa was the prominent display and we've had him for couple of years," Ms Page told Yahoo7.

"The robber ripped him from the wall he was tied up and it won’t work anymore."

Although a small crime, Ms Page expressed her concern for the teenage boy doing worse crimes in the future.

"If he did this it may lead to other things," Ms Page told Yahoo7.

The blow-up Santa's are all sold out in Bunnings this year and Ms Page said "we aren't going to bother this year."

The chamber of commerce run a local competition where members of the community vote for their favourite Christmas display.

"We won it last year, we were very proud," Ms Page told Yahoo7.

Santa has become a major attraction in Port Macquarie and was featured in their local Christmas parade.

"The children in the community love our display," Ms Page said.

"Just the other day a four-years-old boy come inside to say 'Thanks Miss Page for all the lights and decorations you've put up'."

Local media revealed police are currently investigating the matter.
