Knife-wielding attacker leaps over counter, stabs store worker in chilling robbery
Chilling CCTV shows the moment a knife-wielding attacker jumped over the counter of a convenience store and tackled a terrified worker before stabbing him in the shoulder.
The armed robber can be seen entering the convenience store on Buckland Street about 9.45pm in harrowing video, armed with a large kitchen knife and clad in dark trousers, hooded jumper and something concealing his face.
The attacker is seen creeping swiftly toward the counter before leaping onto the counter and brazenly threatening the worker, sitting inside the store's counter area on his phone, with the knife.
He then apparently grabs the frightened 35-year-old man by the neck before tackling him off the chair and into the corner of the counter area.
The worker struggles to overpower him as he is dragged outside the counter before the assailant stabs him abruptly in the shoulder.
Emergency services were alerted and the store attendant was taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
Police from Redfern Local Area Command attended and established a crime scene.
An investigation is underway in an attempt to identify and locate the man involved and police are urging anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers of Redfern Police on 02 8303 5199.
