He was allegedly pushed, causing him to fall into the path of a garbage truck before he was crushed on the Pacific Motorway on-ramp at Eight Mile Plains on Tuesday.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The exact circumstances of the incident were not yet clear, police said.

The 36-year-old man from Yarrabilba will appear at Brisbane Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

Both men were seen getting out of their cars when the fight escalated just after 3pm with shoving and punches, stopped where the Gateway splits to merge on to the M1.

There were several witnesses at the scene and they tried to help, but nothing could be done.

Acting inspector Greg Veivers said the other man was ‘very upset’.

“He did everything in his power to try and avoid the situation,” he said.

The 36-year-old man, from Yarrabilba, was later taken into police custody and will appear at Brisbane Magistrates Court today.

“Everyone's got a cam in their cars in their trucks… many people that are travelling this time of day through here may well have that footage in their car,” Act Inspector Veivers said.

Police will investigate what sparked the argument and who started the violence.

The garbage truck has already been inspected.
