Caught on camera: Elderly man caught up in vicious car jacking

FIRST ON 7: This exclusive footage reveals the moment a man callously car-jacked an elderly driver in broad daylight.

Late today the man accused of committing the confronting crime, Zac Baby Chol, appeared in court.

The CCTV footage, obtained by 7 News, shows the scene of the crime just after six o'clock on Saturday evening.

A man in his seventies is seen sitting in his Camry outside the Ridleyton Foodland when suddenly an assailant jumps over the bonnet and confronts the driver.

The offender tries to pull the elderly victim away from the car, but ends up falling backwards himself.

He then gets in the Camry and backs out, almost running over the man before returning waving erratically to claim his cap.

The attack left the elderly man bleeding and with a cut head.

Minutes later police arrested Chol allegedly driving the car at Findon.

The 33-year-old was charged with offences including aggravated robbery, drink driving, driving disqualified and assaulting two police officers by spitting at them.

Chol fronted Port Adelaide Magistrates Court late Monday afternoon, wearing a forensic jumpsuit rather than his own clothes.

He didn't apply for bail and will remain in custody until his next court date in February.
