NSW Premier attends Taylor Swift concert, pretends daughter dragged him along

New South Wales Premier Mike Baird has come out on social media - as a Taylor Swift fan.

The politician posted a photo of him and his daughter sitting in the stands waiting eagerly for the pop princess, coyly admitting his penchant for Swift's tunes with the caption:

"A great thing about having daughters: you can pretend THEY'RE the reason you are at the Taylor Swift concert. #shakeitoff"

Baird wasn't the only politician shaking it off.

Treasurer Scott Morrison took an Instagram snap of his cameo in the concert audience as well.

"Ready to #shakeitoff at @taylorswift with my girls! #1989toursydney," Mr Morrison wrote with the photo.

Swift performed in front of 76,000 people in Sydney's ANZ Stadium to kick off her Australian tour last night, revealing it was one of the largest crowds she had ever played in front of.

"I'm just taking this all in, this is one of the biggest crowds I've ever played for," Swift told the crowd halfway through her show.

She kicked off the night with a warm message to the audience as she sang her hit Welcome to New York.

"Good evening Sydney, I'm Taylor and dare I say you have never looked more beautiful than you do tonight Sydney, Australia," she said.

In a show that was part light show, part music concert with a touch of whimsy, the singer went through multiple outfit changes from sequinned crop tops to her now signature jumpsuits.

But songs from her number one album 1989 were all her young audience seemed to really care about.

The popstar made a promise to the audience that she's going to have to keep - that she will be back.

"I always come to see you and I'm always going to," she promised.

Taylor Swift's Australian tour continues in Brisbane, Adelaide and Melbourne until December 12.
