Man caught speeding tells police off for 'lying', drives away at 240km/h

A driver has filmed his bizarre encounter with police over a speeding fine, telling them "you don't have to have a degree in engineering to know what a safe speed is" before driving off at 240km/h.

The Australian motorist was pulled aside on a motorway and issued an infringement notice for allegedly traveling nine kilometres over the legal 100km/h set on the stretch of road.

"I don’t like being lied to … to tell me that doing 119 is an unsafe speed on this road is a lie," he tells the officers.

"I don’t care what the posted speed limit is. We both know it’s 110 … it’s killing us."

Video of the incident that was posted to Facebook later shows the man speeding away at some 240km/h, well over the legal limit and speed that he designated as safe.
