Brisbane cabbie boasts about slapping Uber driver calling them 'f***ing scabs'

A Brisbane cab driver has boasted on Facebook about physically assaulting an Uber driver and is calling for his colleagues to "get more militant" on the "scabs".

Greg Collins, the owner of the Virginia-based cab company Complete Taxi Management, admitted on the Brisbane Taxi Driver Facebook page on Sunday that he physically assaulted an Uber driver.

"F---ing slap him like I did to the prick in Warner St the other night, I am f---ing over them. You wait I will f---ing get them. They won't and can't defend themselves they are illegal. If it was 30 years ago in my time, they wouldn't last five minutes," he wrote, in response to a post by a taxi driver claiming to have been bashed by an Uber driver while trying to take a photo.

"We need to get more militant about this issue. The (sic) are the f---ing scabs stealing what we have all worked for."

The 30-year Brisbane taxi veteran told the Brisbane Times the post was a joke and he had "never slapped" an Uber driver.

"It's not true, I don't break the law" he told media.

"I spoke to an Uber driver but I don't want to elaborate, they are illegal."

Mr Collins cab driver has in previous posts accused the government of 'treason' encouraging cab drivers to take matters into their own hands.

"When the government of the day refuses to enforce the laws it created and allows a foreign illegal organisation to operate with impunity without any regards to its citizens, that is treason," he wrote to his personal Facebook page.

"That calls for action by people to protect their laws. I say stuff them and we need to do what they won't. They hurt me and my family. It's war."

Uber says the driver attacks are 'worrying'

The comments came as two Uber drivers were bashed by a group of men, an act that seemed to be specifically targeted at Uber drivers.

The drivers sat in their cars in Fortitude Valley and Kangaroo Point on Monday, both vehicles were damaged and one man’s mobile phone was stolen.

The company is "very concerned" about the attacks, adding the safety of its drivers and passengers was a priority, fearing it could be part of an intimidation campaign.

"The taxi lobby and its associates have long used fear, misinformation and intimidation in its campaign against ride-sharing and it would be a very worrying turn of events if these alleged assaults happened as a result of this campaign," a spokesman said in a statement.

"We call on Taxi Council Queensland to condemn this type of behaviour immediately."

The Taxi Council of Queensland was expected to issue a statement, although this is now believed to have been deferred.
