Sydney woman raped and robbed after posting online advertisement

A Sydney woman was allegedly ambushed, raped and robbed after two men responded to a sex advertisement on the internet.

Tuvshinbayar Bold, 21, and Tamir Altanbagana, 22, were arrested in the city after a three-day manhunt.

The incident took place on Sunday September 20 and it is understood one of the men was in Australia on a student visa.

The ad was posted to Backpage.com.au and one of the men showed up at the Sydney city apartment after having a conversation at the front door and allegedly forcing his way in with a knife.

Police allege a pillow was put over the woman's face before she was sexually assaulted.

The woman's phone and other items were allegedly stolen from the apartment.

She is believed to be aged between 20 and 30 and was treated in hospital for injuries.

The pair have been charged with aggravated break and enter in company and sexual assault.

One of men was scheduled to fly out of the country, Fairfax media has been told.

The Mongolian men will appear in Central Local Court on Monday, they didn't apply for bail.
