Tapeworm eggs found in woman's brain
Doctors have discovered tapeworm eggs in the brain of a woman suffering from severe headaches.
Yadira Rostro persisted with the pain, which was so bad it would affect her sight, for nine months before she sought medical help and learned of the gruesome find.
Doctors at the Methodist Dallas Medical Centre later operated to remove the parasites, and the procedure has been captured on film.
It is understood Ms Rostro contracted the condition during a trip to Mexico two years ago, maybe through contaminated food.
"They looked a little bit like eggs, and they have a clear sac," he said. "And inside it, a small tapeworm," neurosurgeon Richard Meyrat said.
