'Pregnant French tourist' apologises for video hoax

The girl behind the viral ‘French pregnant tourist’ hoax video says she is sorry if people were misled by it.

Alizé Michel and Andy Sellar, the social media mastermind behind the video, both spoke to Sunrise this morning and said they never expected the video to become "this big".

“I never expected it to go viral,” Ms Michel said, adding that she only agreed to star in the video to “help her friends”.

In the video Ms Michel appeals to the public to help find the father of her unborn child, who she met on the last night of her three-month trip to Australia.

Hundreds of people took to Facebook to help Ms Michel, expressing their concerns and support.

Yesterday a second video was uploaded featuring Ms Michel and Mr Seller, who both admitted the video was a social media stunt designed to entice more tourists to Mooloolaba.

Mr Sellar has defended the video saying it was only supposed to be a “low key joke”.

“I thought about 1,000 people would see it. I didn’t think what would happen would happen," he told Sunrise.

Mr Sellar says he hopes the backlash against the video doesn’t impact Mooloolaba.

“I just wanted to promote Mooloolaba,” he said.

For those wondering, Ms Michel and Mr Sellar are both single, with Mr Sellar now on the lookout for his dream woman.

Stand-by for another viral video.
