Father cradled dying son in his arms after horrific crash

A father tried desperately to save his son when a casual motorcycle ride through Sydney’s south west took a horror turn.

Joshua Michael Young, 27, a professional artist and competitive motorcycle rider was killed instantly in a collision with a Mazda sedan on Barkers Lodge Road in Picton.

The sedan’s male driver was not injured.

Mr Young's father, who was riding his motorcycle with his son at the time, saw the entire thing.

Craig Sheahan was the first person to come across the scene. He recounted his horrific discovery on Facebook.

"The rider was lying on the road and in a bad way, his father was there cradling his son," he wrote.

"It was hectic as we waited for the emergency services to arrive, cars were still able to pass by the scene", Mr Sheahan wrote.

"I don’t think it was going to end well for the rider and my ride home afterwards was very different, lots of time to think about things."

It proved a horror weekend on NSW roads. Just minutes before Mr Young's death another three lives were lost in a crash at Bilpin in the Blue Mountains.

The three young men were on their way home from a dance music festival in the bush when their car spun out of control.

In totally Six people died on NSW roads from Friday to Sunday, taking the 2015 road toll to 236, 25 more than the same time last year.
