Palestinian woman rescues child being attacked by soldier

In a video gone viral multiple Palestinian women can be seen appearing to attack an Israeli soldier who was trying to arrest a young boy during protest settlements.

The masked soldier can be seen holding a young boy with his arm in a cast, in an attempt to arrest him after he allegedly threw stones at soldiers.

It's understood the young boy's name is Mohammed Tamimi and a statement from the IDF said the boy, and his family, were "well known" to them.

While some have questioned the authenticity of the video the IDF told the Hebrew-language news website 0404 that "the attackers are well-known and will be arrested soon," adding that a reserve officer had also filed a complaint against the family for assault.

The 12-year-old boy's female relatives attempted to slap the Israeli soldier and rip off his uniform while he held the boy at gunpoint in a hole.

Tamimi's 15-year-old sister, wearing a pink shirt, is seen biting the soldier's hand as bystanders scream out, “he is a little boy. His arm is broken.”

This isn't the first time the family have gone viral over their encounters with the IDF with the older daughter filmed two years ago shaking her fist at an Israeli soldier in another viral video.

In an interview with The Jerusalem Post the boy's father, Bassem Tamimi, said he approved of his children's participation in West Bank protests.

"We have the right to resist," he said. "Our children are doing their duty and must be strong."

The soldier then frees himself and releases the boy, throwing a tear gas grenade at a group of people as he walks away.

The brawl happened in a village near Ramallah, during protests between Israeli officials and pro-Palestinian activists over land confiscation to expand Jewish settlement.

According to the IDF, Palestinians threw stones at the soldiers during a protest which raised concerns for their safety.

The military says the boy was released “to prevent an escalation of violence.”

The protracted scuffle was captured by a local resident and has now gone viral on Facebook with over 2 million views.

But viewers have questioned if the encounter was staged or provoked with the 13-year-old girl seen to be biting the attacker a well-known 'Pallywood star'.

Online blogs have referred to the teenager as 'Shirley Temper' and appearing in a series of similar videos where she challenges Israeli forces.

She recently was presented with a bravery award.
