Police receive autopsy on Mildura toddler

Police have today received an autopsy report as part of an ongoing investigation into the suspicious death of a toddler that went missing in Victoria’s northwest on Tuesday.

Two-year-old Nikki Francis-Coslovich was found dead in the roof of her Mildura home after police spotted finger marks around a manhole in the ceiling during a search.

The girl was reported missing from her Oram Court address around 3pm on Tuesday with reports initially stating her family had been distracted when she disappeared.

“It's a very tragic case, one that we do view as suspicious,” chief commissioner Graham Ashton said.

“We expect to be taking some actions once we've done the proper analysis of the results of the autopsy.”

Police found the late toddler around 5.30pm, about two hours after she was reported missing, fully clothed and covered in dust in the roof cavity.

Authorities have spoken to her mother, Peta-Ann Francis, mother’s partner, John Tourney and father, Nicholas Coslovich as part of the investigation.
