Canadian news anchor's crass joke about space-grown lettuce

A Canadian news anchor could not help himself from making a joke about space-grown lettuce coming from that one unfortunately-crass named planet in our solar system.

News anchor Rich Abney from British Columbian station CKPG was discussing with his colleagues the recent outer-space innovation of space-grown lettuce.

"The concept of a space garden is necessary for future deep-space missions, such as the one planned to visit Mars in more than 15 years," said news reader Aileen Machell.

"Love it! Agriculture that's out of this world," she joked about the lettuce grown on the International Space Station.

Then Abney brought the interstellar pun right back down to earth and into the toilet.

"Gotta say, it seems like a better idea than eating food grown on Uranus," he quipped.

And boy did he look proud of himself as he tried to stifle a smirk and quickly cut to a sports report.

The bit could have been planned, given the allegedly shocked of expression of co-host Camille MacDonald being a little too over the top to be believable.

It even sparked a meme, with one person photoshopping her in place of Edvard Much's The Scream.
