Mum's photo breastfeeding her friend's child sparks debate

The woman, by the name of Jessica, appears in the photo breastfeeding a friend's son along with her own at the same time.

A mum has sparked controversy after she shared a photo of her breastfeeding her friend’s son on Facebook.

Jessica Anne Colletti, from Pennsylvania, appears in the photo breastfeeding a friend's son along with her own at the same time.

"My son on the right is 16 months and my friend's son is 18 months,” Mrs Colletti said in the photo caption.

“I watch her son while she works and have been feeding them both for a year!

“So much love between these milk siblings, it's a special bond between us all #MilkSiblings”.

Pro-Breastfeeding blogger ‘Mama Bean’ shared the photo to her Facebook page.

Many supported Mrs Colletti and the other mum’s decision to share the breastfeeding duties.

“I wish I had a nursing babysitter,” Whitney Wheelan commented.

“I would feed a friend or family members child in a heart beat,” Joanne Holmes added.

However others felt breastfeeding should only be done between the baby and their own mother.

“I truly believe it’s a sacred bond that should only be shared by mother and baby,” Bini Walton said in her comment.

“I feel breastfeeding someone else’s’ baby is totally overstepping unless they’ve asked you to… still not sure about it though”.

Jamie-Lee Leach agreed: “That’s so wrong you don’t breast feed someone else’s child, that’s not normal… it’s a mother and baby bond,” she said.
