Mysteries of the deep: Divers find enormous transparent blob

This amazing video shot by a group of divers off the coast of Turkey shows an enormous transparent blob that nobody was able to explain.

The four-metre wide mysterious blob mass was filmed by videographer Lutfu Tanriover in the Mediterranean Sea and the video shows the divers trying to work out what the mass was.

The divers are seen shining torches through the mass which turned out to most likely be an enormous squid egg mass.

Mr Tanriover said the group 'felt a mixture of both excitement and fear' as they approached the mysterious blob, reports Deep Sea News.

Squid expert Dr Michael Vecchione of the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History was reportedly the first to suggest said it was the largest egg mass he had ever seen.

This mystery of the deep is not the only phenomenon to shock and amaze us.

In Taiwan a mystery creature was filmed, which looks like something we might expect to see on the Ghostbusters film.

Uploader Wei Cheng Jian claims he encountered it while fishing in a port in Penghu, and shared the clip to his Facebook page soon afterwards.

The green mass seems like to be some kind of ribbon worm, but poor Wei Cheng Jian remains unsure, and more than a little nervous.

Other instances of grim and discerning creatures have left us equally baffled and slightly terrified.

Are they throwbacks from millions of years ago? Are they Hell beasts unleashed from the depths of Hades by angry gods bent on punishing us?

Or are they just misunderstood cuddly creatures who deep down inside just want to be our friends?

Well, they can find their own friends.

If none of these unholy abominations resurface from the darkness of the Mariana Trench for another five millennia it will be five millennia too soon.

When this carcass of a mysterious sea creature washed up on a beach in Siberia, the public was so baffled as to what it was, it prompted a wave of theories and speculation.

Now the mystery may never be solved after the unidentified animal was washed back out to sea by a storm.

The decomposing, bizarre-looking creature was discovered on a beach near Shakhtersk Airport on Sakhalin Island in eastern Russia.

Scientists were unable to investigate or take samples from the beast to determine exactly what it was - although many believed it was a dolphin.

But a local resident has fuelled fresh debate on the strange creature and its species after suggesting bones protruding from its underside could be paws or feet, adding that it had no fins.
