Chris Bath says goodbye after 20 years with Seven

From the frontline to behind the desk, it’s been 20 years since Chris Bath joined Channel Seven.

Tonight we say farewell to the familiar face viewers have laughed, cried and followed the news with for all these years.

From delivering groundbreaking news stories to Dancing With the Stars, Chris has been a much-loved part of the Channel Seven family.

Last month the 48-year-old announced she would be saying goodbye after two decades, covering everything from natural disasters to royal weddings.

Chris’ career with Seven started in 1996, she was 28 at the time.

Her stint at Seven followed time working at Newcastle’s NBN and 2UE radio.

The Charles Sturt University graduate came on with Seven to wake up with the early risers, hosting the 6am news bulletin.

From there she went on to host Seven’s Sunday morning politics show Face to Face – where she got to grill high profile names in Australian politics at the time.

As the years went on her resume only got more impressive as she moved on to report for current affairs show Witness, traveling the world as a correspondent.

After this, she arrived back in Sydney to host the 6pm news bulletin and later went on to deliver the Late News.

During Sydney’s turn to host the Olympics in 2000, Chris was right there at the finish line to deliver the coverage to viewers at home.

She also co-hosted the prelude to the opening ceremony while she was seven months pregnant with her son Darcy.

Impressively, she returned to work just three-and-a-half weeks after giving birth.

In 2001, she led breaking news coverage of the federal election when John Howard defeated Kim Beazley.

From there she went on to host Sunday Sunrise and Sydney’s weekend 6pm bulletin until she moved to mornings once again in 2004.

2005 was a big year for Chris covering the Schapelle Corby's verdict from Bali.

It was also the year she showed off her moves on Dancing With The Stars.

In 2009 she took on the challenge of hosting Sunday Night, one of her biggest roles.

She also filled the shoes of Ian Ross as the anchor of Seven News until 2014.

Despite taking a step back Chris still led rolling coverage of breaking news events such as the case of the missing MH17 plane.

In 2015 she reached yet another career highlight with Seven, covering Anzac Day in Gallipoli.

And now the time has come to say goodbye.

After two impressive decades of work with Seven, Chris has gained plenty of fans across Australia who have watched her grow as a journalist – and witnessed every kicked goal, blooper, fabulous hair style and fashion choice she’s had a long the way.

Farewell Chris Bath, you’ll be greatly missed.
