Leopard's lunch goes bad, covers cat in zebra juice

WARNING – DO NOT WATCH OR READ THIS WHILE EATING LUNCH

There really is no such thing as a free lunch, as this hapless leopard learned after taking an unexpected shower in rotting zebra juice.

The big cat was filmed settling in for a big meal in the Djuma Private Game Reserve in Sabi Sand, South Africa, when dinner took an explosively disgusting turn for the worse.

The leopard was a few mouthfuls of rotten flesh into its feed, when the zebra’s abdomen suddenly popped, and spewed a torrent of liquefied innards into its face.

It is anyone’s guess what the make up of the salmon-coloured zebra secretion actually was, but judging on the position of the gut geyser, it could be anything from stomach acid and bile to the contents of the dead animal’s bladder.

The cadavers creamy centre clearly left a foul taste in the leopard’s mouth, forcing it to retreat to reconsider exactly how hungry it actually was.

According to witnesses, the zebra had likely been dead for more than a day, allowing ample time for rigor mortis and fluid build up to set in.

All it took was a puncture for the pressure to release, spraying the contents of the corpse into the air.

That's the problem with rotting carcasses - one wrong move and you're squelching through an enormous viscous mess with an even worse smell.

But at least the leopard wasn't trying to eat this whale.
