A tight-knit Victorian community is in mourning after a horror car crash claimed the lives of three teenagers and left another in hospital.
The four friends had been at the movies and on their way home, when their car ran off a dirt road, spun sideways and slammed into a tree at Avonsleigh in rural Victoria late yesterday afternoon.
The driver, 19-year-old Jason Breakwell, and his two passengers, Felisha Allen, 17, and 16-year-old Sharn Walker were killed instantly.
A fourth man, Jake Mitchell, who was also in the car, was the only survivor and is now out of hospital.
Friends and well wishers took to the teenager's Facebook page with messages of support while others comforted each other at the tragic crash site.
The group of mourners, like the floral tributes, grew throughout the day.
Police believe the group was skylarking when the car lost control, senselessly cutting short three young lives.
Detective Senior Sergeant Brad McArthur said: "Inexperience, speed and young people are a disaster in these sort of circumstances."
Earlier on Tuesday, a teenage boy died after being hit by a car while crossing a street in regional Victoria.
The 17-year-old was struck at Black Hill in Ballarat.
