Aussie mum, 52, proudly breastfeeds six-year-old daughter

A Byron Bay mum who proudly breastfeeds her six-year-old daughter says she would feed her in the playground if she asked for it.

Maha Al Musa, 52, told an Australian women's magazine she regularly breastfed her daughter Aminah and hadn’t immunized her because she believed in the power of breastmilk.

Ms Al Musa was pictured in the publication cradling her daughter as she was being breastfed in a park with her school uniform on.

'Sometimes it tastes like candy canes. It tastes like a lot of different things,' Aminah told the magazine.

'It's my favourite thing to do when I'm not at school. More kids should because it's good for you.'

Aminah is regularly breastfed before she goes to bed. Her mum said she feeds her whenever and wherever she wants as ‘she was responding to her natural desire’.

The mum of three who follows the strict Paleo diet, openly posts photos of her breastfeeding her daughter on Facebook.

She said she enjoyed the bonding time with her daughter.

Aminah told Woman’s Day she liked it so much that she would probably keep doing it until she was eight.

Ms Al Musa said she felt breastfeeding her school aged daughter was normal.

'Let child and mother choose what's best for them, their circumstance and family. If we are all choosing then we are all equal,' she wrote on Facebook alongside a photo of her feeding.

'4-8 (years) is NORMAL age for self weaning.'
