A Chinese man who collapsed after a 14 day online gaming binge reportedly asked paramedics who treated him to turn the computer back on so he could continue playing.

The 21-year-old only known as ‘Mr Xia’ collapsed onto the footpath outside an internet café in Hefei, Anhui province, according to Anhui Business Review.

When help arrived to take Mr Xia to hospital he told them: “Leave me alone and turn on the computer for me. I want to surf the internet.”

The cleaning lady for the cafe told media she saw Mr Xia stagger out of the building following a two week gaming binge where he survived on cigarettes, dodged showers and ate next to nothing.

“At 7am on May 3, he told me he was feeling a little dizzy and hadn’t eaten for a day and that he would go out and get some food,” she told Anhui Business Review.

"He couldn't stand up on his own so I helped him. He was quite smelly by then."

At 7.30am Mr Xia collapsed into a heap on the ground outside.

Mr Xia told media he had run away from home after being hooked on World of Warcraft.

China’s internet addiction problem is growing. With more than 649 million internet users, it is estimated 24 million are addicted to the internet.

Earlier this year a teen from Jiangsu province reportedly chopped off his hand in hope of curing his addiction.
