Cambodian resort staff rape unconscious Aussie girl

Two Cambodian waiters have been arrested and charged with raping an Australian woman who they found unconscious on the beach nearby the hotel.

The men reportedly told police they 'couldn’t control their feelings' and allegedly carried the 22-year-old woman from the beach back to their living quarters.

Sarith Sethy, 22, and Kuoy Pov, 17, have been charged with the crime which took place at the Waikiki Beach Club in Sihanoukville , reports the Cambodian Daily newspaper.

The alleged victim had been partying at a nearby beaches and had fallen asleep by herself on the sand of O’Chheuteal Beach.

When the men finished work when they came across her body and carried her off to their room.

"The two men had confessed to the crime," Sarath Vichea, chief of police for the Preah Sihanouk province said.


“At about 11pm, while the victim was feeling drunk, the suspects brought her [to their room] and raped her one by one.”

“They were able to rape her in the club because they were waiters and live at the club.

They raped her because they couldn’t control their feelings when they saw her sleeping alone on the beach.”

The incident happened on Monday night and the men were arrested 2 days later after the Australian traveller had reported the crime to the police.

A spokesman for the Australian Embassy in Cambodia said they are aware of the crime and are able to offer any necessary support.

Australia is urging travellers to the country to exercise caution.

The Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and trade website said “travellers planning to attend parties, including organised dance parties on islands off the coast of Cambodia, should take appropriate precautions for personal safety.”
