The Rebels bikie gang have upset people who attended Anzac services in New Zealand today by revving their bikes during the ceremonies.

The gang turned up late to a dawn service in Waiouru, where the country’s military camp is based, and then drove off loudly revving their engines during the Last Post, Fairfax Media reports.

In a near by town, Taihape, a resident posted on twitter that the gang also rode through the dawn parade there, revving their bikes and “being clowns.”

Merna Brotherston was at the dawn service at Waiouru with her daughter and two grandsons the Rebels Motorcycle Gang arrived.

"A lot of people were quite disgusted, but they couldn't do anything about it because the service was on," she said.

The gang left in the middle of the Last Post, and their loud exit drowned out the sounds of the bugle.

As they ride on, car alarms can be heard, suggesting the volume of the bikes set them off.

"I thought it was disgusting. What a complete lack of respect," Brotherston said.

Brotherston's grandson Charlie said it was obvious the revving engines were not meant as a tribute.

"I just thought they were being dick-heads."

The Rebels' motto is "Respect Few Fear None."
