William Spedding charged over child-sex abuse claims

William Spedding has been charged with historical child-sex offences relating to two young girls 28 years ago.

Spedding, 63, a washing machine repairman, was arrested earlier today at his Bonny Hills home, south of Port Macquarie on the NSW mid-north coast.

Spedding has been charged with five counts of sexual intercourse with a person under the age of 10, and two counts of common assault.

The charges relate to two girls, aged three and six.

He has been refused bail.

Mr Spedding was previously named as a person of interest in investigations into missing toddler William Tyrrell.

The charges are not related to Tyrrell's disappearance.
