A teenage girl has learnt a lesson she won’t forget after she asked her mother for a sick note to get out of a PE class.

The girl, known as Olivia, said it was ‘too cold’ to take part in the lesson and asked her mother, Sam, to vouch for her that she was sick.

But her plan backfired when her mother wrote a letter telling her teacher that Olivia was not only perfectly healthy but that she could even use a few extra laps.

Sam said her daughter seemed to be suffering from a severe case of 'bone-idle-itus'.

"Olivia has requested that I write her a note for PE. Here it is..." the letter began.

"Olivia is perfectly fit and well to take part in her PE lesson today. The only thing she's suffering with is a severe case of Bone-idle-itus!"

"Olivia's complaint is, it's too cold to participate. Might I suggest a few extra laps to warm her up??"

"Please return to Olivia after reading."

Sam posted a picture of the letter on social media.

"Well here you go Olivia, here's your note for PE, it will be sealed and in an envelope ready for her to hand to the head in the morning,” she wrote.
