Brumbies beat Rebels 20-15 at AAMI Park to extend lead at top of Australian conference to four points

The Brumbies have consolidated their lead at the top of the Australian conference with a 20-15 Super Rugby win over the Rebels at AAMI Park on Saturday night.

The teams swapped penalty goals in the opening 16 minutes before Tevita Kuridrani broke free down the left to score the opening try in the 22nd minute.

A penalty to Christian Leali'ifano extended the lead, but a late penalty to the Rebels made it 10-6 at the break.

Another Leali'ifano penalty and a try to Jarrad Butler provided enough of a buffer for the Brumbies to withstand three second half penalties from the Rebels and secure the points.

Rebels full-back Mike Harris provided all the points for the home side, kicking five out of six penalty goals on the night to give them a bonus point.

The win puts the Brumbies on 10 points, four points clear of the Rebels in the Australian conference with two wins from three games.

More to come.
